((Soundtrack for Post: 1. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EQAi7lcyk82. www.youtube.com/watch?v=l9T55V-FY6A3. www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRFwpTan4CQ )) In the beginning of time, four Powers ruled over a kingdom. Each harnessed a unique connection with the elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water.
For a time they lived as family. As brothers, as sisters, as kin. But war was soon raged, brought on by jealousy and hatred, of unrequited love.
For Air had fallen in love with the closest of kin, the closest to his heart, Earth. But it was Fire who wanted him, and it was Fire who killed Earth, causing a rift amongst those fabled powers.
Death ravaged through the kingdom. Millenia passed, and the Powers became of legends forgotten. But the Powers have risen, reborn again.
However, there was a secret taken to the grave with Earth. Of a son fathered by Light, unknown by Air. Taken from her upon his birth.... Anger, sorrow, happiness, guilt, grief.... So many emotions had taken their toll on Lily's carefully-constructed control. She'd always been the gentle one, the understanding one. Always been the one to hold her emotions in and always have control over the powers she let loose. But there came a point, when Rui would not listen and her heart ached to much to bear, that she could no longer hold onto that control. Beginning from that night when she'd reunited with her son and lost Rui, she'd felt it cracking. Felt the need to shed her emotions in a more destructive manner, get rid of it all and just.... let loose. Let it take over. For her powers could be very destructive, as much as any of the others'. While she was always perceived as the gentle one, the weak one who could not harm another of the Earth, it was merely control that had kept her that way. In truth, her could do the worst damage to the earth. And that control, with her last phone call to Rui only to end up being hung up on, had slipped. She'd run, then, away from the city lights and the easily-damaged bodies of the living. She'd run, feeling the burn in her lungs and the stitch in her side, but relishing the pain, the effort. It was enough to hold onto until she'd bound into the dry, empty desert. The vast desert that spread for miles. No one was around. Though she would destroy such sacred earth, no one would be harmed. It was then that her control was lost completely. She had kept everything in so long, all of her guilt and sadness and fury, and she let it loose in that instant. A battle-cry sounded, a mix between her anger and sorrow, rising up into the night and would have been deafening if anyone had been around. The ground cracked, spliting. A great roar of thunder sounded across all of Vegas. And then the earthquake hit. The desert began to shift, the ground cracking, dust rising as great boulders began to blow apart across the ground. Even in the heart of the city the aftershocks could be felt and people began to run for cover, for doorways and shelters. Lightning shot across the sky, a blazing streak of white, connecting with her outspread hand. There was no sign of pain, though the contact had set her veins on fire. Another blast of lightning. Another. And another. Continues streaks connecting around, upturning the desert around her with each strike. Every bolt that collided with her, sent another wave of fire through, another blast of pain. The skin of her forearms began to redden as blood rose to the surface. Too much and soon it would split her open, but her control was nothing. She just wanted it out. Wanted to destroy. Earth at its most destuctive moments. The earth gave a great lurch, rumbling in all directions. The tremors wove their way below the ground's surface, breaking apart streets, overturning cars in the distance. Another scream ripped its way through her lips, and in one moment she let out everything she was feeling, directing it into her powers. The sky lit up, a brilliant white all across the town as the lightning gathered, the air crackling with electricity, and then began shooting down around her with a vengeance. Soon the desert around her would be left a crater, and she the only thing left standing. But she did not stop. Somewhere on the islands of Hawaii an inactive volcano exploded. ((K, so I figure characters can reply with their reactions around the city should they feel the want to. And whenever Titan feels, she can come and knock some sense into Lils. ))

Fern's first thoughts on finding herself flung to the floor were Ohdamnohdamnohdamn, her second thought is Well, this hasn't happened for a while her third thought is a very brief flash of concern for Hell, wherever he may be... And her fourth thought is a rather resigned inkling that at least this confirms that Earth is present somewhere.
And then her rather belated fifth thought is that she should at least pretend to be getting somewhere safe... Or not, since Katie has grabbed her arm and is tugging her rather instantly to the nearest doorway.
Though she's still wondering in vague terms about Hell...
---
Laurel however was in Liam's office in the warehouse when it happened, perched on the desk and sipping orange juice... And then she slid off the desk, dropped the orange juice all over the floor, contemplated running around like a headless chicken and is now clinging to the sides of the doorway and looking rather nervous about the whole set up.
---
Cora is not worried, Cora is never worried unless it is a vague kind of what could be classed as concern for War or her sister... But she's never concerned for herself, she just watches the lightning in a slightly charmed way for a couple of seconds and then keeps drifting through the town...
A few cars make a vague effort to flip onto her but never make it, one bolt of lightning makes a vague attempt to hit her but makes a last minute diversion to a few feet away instead.
Even nature is afraid to try and harm Death.
--
Portia is doing nothing, except standing in the doorway to her room looking faintly fed up with the world.
---
And Celia is watching the lightning from another doorway, looking impressed and maybe just slightly scared by all of natures efforts.
There seems to be a glow around her though, and people are a lot more calm.

Domyouji was just glad there wasn't any rain as he walked through the rumbling streets. More like stomped. Angrily. Because his mercedes had been one of the cars to flip and now he had to call his chauffeur. With all the electricity in the air, it made for horrible reception, so he was stuck in downtown simply because he refused to use a damn pay phone.
But it was with an odd sense of recognition that he sat down to enjoy the light show in the sky. The screaming on the other hand, of the people around him, was an irritation, so he pulled out his Ipod and put on a nice symphony to go with the show. He had no idea what this was, perhaps just a storm, who knew. Interesting.
~
Jane had been enjoying a walk through an old abandoned factory lot when the aftershocks hit. Old rusted equipment fell down around her as she ran for the doorway. She grimaced, staring out at the sky. She hated earthquakes.
~
Eris was dancing through the heart of Vegas, enjoying the cars that upturned, the screaming, the mayhem. She just knew Terra must have lost it finally, and such lovely destruction she was causing.
"Chaos![/i]" she could be heard screaming through the streets, her hands raised as she danced to the unheard tunes of destructive power.
~
Faye knew as a witch that this could be no natural thing. Quite a show of power. Someone obviously didn't care about exposure. She liked it.
But it didn't stop her from casually leaning in a doorway as her apartment shook and bookshelves were overturned. Wouldn't help to be hurt in the process. Hah!
~
Tanith did no such thing as running for protection, even as the Council witches tried to force her to the safety of a doorway. No, her eyes had narrowed, staring out the window at the crackling sky. Terra. Who else would it be?
Such blatant disregard of powers... The Old Powers disgusted her. And it did not help that she'd counted on Terra to be the weakest one. Her first target. She would know have to rethink her plans.
She hoped little Earth had lost control completely. Everything would be easier if she let her powers destroy her. Good riddance.

Seth felt the tremors through his skyscraper, but he wasn't terribly worried. As soon as he had learned of the rise of the Old Powers, he had reinforced the building's general state. So no, he wasn't worried. Just intrigued.
---
Frost happened to be in Russia.
---
Francis sighed, irritated. Psh. What the hell did she think she was doing? Proving something? Letting it out? No, she was terrifying all the animals. Stupid ho.
---
"Oh, balls." Addy said moments before she was thrown from the top of the building that she had been scaling in pursuit of a Nightworlder. She landed hard on the ground, but she heard something crack before she passed out. At least it was only a two story building.
---
Jay just sat in his back yard, soaking up the sun, head in his hands. He would not deal with this right now.
--
And as for Maelstrom, he had not touched the Earth since he had left it. He didn't know how long it had been. He didn't know what was happening below him. He only knew what was happening around him. The sky was charged with energy, but it couldn't touch him. He was safe in his own domain, and he didn't know if he would ever return.
Somewhere in the back of his mind, Air saw his necklace floating in front of his face. A little stab of guilt had struck him the first time he noticed it, but now it was more. Something deeper. He knew he couldn't stay up here forever.
But he could try.

Jakob Mueller lounged, tousle-haired, crooked-smiled, satiated, on a rather comfortable and yet imposing couch. He had his left arm tucked behind his head and he was flicking through channels with the remote. He was bare-chested, and it was rather a pity he was also alone, because the man made a picture, and the picture was pleasing. He is nowhere even close to near Las Vegas. He's still in Moscow, and Moscow is dirty and grey outside, and he is considering sleep.
Then the television's program is interrupted: a report on an epic Las Vegas earthquake. His eyebrows lift and he says, musingly, wonderingly, "Darren?"
Short for wonder what my brother was doing right now, he was there, wasn't he...
---
Beatrix hadn't fallen this time. Not on the floor, anyway. This time Beatrix fell against a wall and stayed there until the earth stopped quaking. There were any number of sensitives who would be able to glean something strange, something odd, something old and powerful about the disasters. The air just tasted different.
Beatrix knew, just knew, who was causing it. What she didn't know (love, love, love) was why it was. The reincarnation of Dark took a second to reach out and make certain that certain protective seals on her family's house were still in place. They were! which was good. "Lily, c'mon," she whispered.
The door to the building she was in had swung open and she could see lightning forking on the horizon. She could hear the crackle of electricity and ozone, hear the winds wildly lashing at the earth. Then the first aftershock hit, and the window above her shattered, sending a fall of glass, a play of light and sharpness, lucent knives.
Well, she'd always liked danger...
---
It was dark as a devil's heart in the elevator. Valentine Crow flipped open his cellphone, as much for the light as to see whether or not he was getting any service. He wasn't. He also wasn't alone. The LVU elevator also included a hysterical redhaired dayworlder, a Japanese transfer student who was on his way to a panic, and Valentine's roommate. A lot of free beer spilled on the floor, too. "No service," Valentine said.
The girl began to freak out further: "What's going to happen? What's going to happen? Oh mah gawd, was that an earthquake? What'll we do? Oh gawd, what if nobody finds us? What if nobody finds us? What if the elevator drops?"
"Hey, Toby," Valentine says, remaining calm, "use the emergency phone, will you? The elevator can't and won't drop, Tiffany."
The Japanese kid's panic began: "I... I ... I don't like... closed spaces..."
Toby murmured, under his breath to Valentine as he picked up a phone, "That didn't feel natural. Do you have any idea what's going on?"
Then the elevator dropped.

Enough. Enough! She was in his space. In his territory. No. That would not be tolerated. No one would invade his personal space and get away with it. Not even her. Maelstrom drifted back to the Earth wearing the same tattered clothes that he had left with. He was finally starting to feel the weight of days worth of power use. Granted, he hadn't really been doing anything but maintaining after he got up there. Still, he felt it. He also felt the agony that he had thought to escape that night that he left. It all came down on him, leaving him half crazed looking. ((Agony!Rui/Maelstrom)) "Terra. You must stop now. Please." knowing her she would probably get all mad about him coming back too. This is why it was highly convenient for him to pass out at that moment, falling to the very earth that was currently being torn open by lightening. Le sigh.

Nethiel eyed the crackling sky with obvious disdain. Damn woman was nothing but an attention-seeking brat. Obviously throwing a temper tantrum.
With a roll of his eyes, he narrowly missed being hit by a car as he slid through the portal between the Living and Hell.
~
Tabitha knew at once that this was not a natural occurrence, and quickly ushered her family into the caravans for protection. She hoped that Air and Earth would make up soon, lest there be more destruction. She hoped, most of all, the Light would put in his piece as well.
~
((Too lazy to put up all my character reactions. Lol. So here's Lily's in response to Rui... ))
Lily felt her power waning, her anger slowly fading as exhaustion came upon her. She was too tired to feel anymore, and with one last strike of lightning upon the palm of her hand, and the slight cut that it caused there, she hit the ground.
Her breathing shallow, the night rocked around her. She could barely make out the large crater of desert she had created around her. Blood stained her fingertips, and her clothing had become tattered from the strikes of lightning. She took no notice, heard nothing but a loud electric buzz ringing in her ears. And a fog of fatigue clouded over her, her eyes heavy-lidded, face twisted in pain, as her entire body collided with the cracked ground. Face and all.
And she too had passed out.
All around Vegas, the storm- on Earth's part- lifted.

Great. Good show. So, apparently, when you left a large amount of old powers to their own devices, one would inevitably DESTROY A FREAKING CITY!! Unfortunately, this is not what happened in this case. Nope. Instead, they decided that it rould be a good idea to leave permenant evidence in HIS part of the desert. What did this mean? It meant that he needed a new home and they were gonna give it to him.
"hey. Yeah you. Wake up." he said, smacking the closest one - earth - across the face.
He knew that he barely looked human, having lived on the land so long. His hair was caked with dirt and his skin was covered in it too. He wasn't really wearing clothes.. Should be interesting.

Lily winced, slowly waking up, only to look up at a very.... dirty man. A dirty, unclothed man. Oh, dear, holy, freaking....
And then she screamed her head off. Great- earsplitting screams worthy of a Horror Movie scream Queen. Or that guy in Accepted. ((http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adzp_wVe6QA))
He was freaking... scary. At first. Especially with the slapping. And then she cut off mid-scream and aimed a good punch at his face. Obviously there wasn't good intent here because he was slapping her. A simple nudge would have woken her up. Dear gracious, what was IT?!

The HELL?! No, he didn't need this, thanks for asking. Not only was he now unable to hear, but he'd just been punched in the face. What did he do? He punched her back, damn it. In the face. Deserved it, stupid ho.
"Now you listen. You will not hit me again or so help me, I'll pound you into the ground, and leave you there. You destroyed my home with your petty tantrum, damn it, and now I have to find a new one. Do you know how hard it is to find a good underground cave with a tunnel system and an underground spring?" and now he was going to have to socialize with people. Ugh. He hated people.
For the first time in a very very long time, he felt the need for a haircut and a bath. Damn.
And he was wearing a loincloth thank you very much.

Lily was taken about by the retribution. Nobody had actually hit her back before. Kudos for him.
"I... I wrecked your... Oh, geez. I had thought I'd gotten far enough away from people. I'm really, really sorry!" she said with all sincerity, protective mode kicking into high gear. "Is there... um... is there anything I can do... to um... help? It'll take a couple days for me to recharge, but I could try to fix it. Reform the lands and all of that."
She gave him a winsome smile, all white teeth and dimples.

Yes, he was super nasty looking at the current moment.

"Oh, well.... Um...." Lily knew her aunt would have a heart attack for this but... "Well, you can use my shower, since I owe you. And I'm pretty handy with a pair of scissors. I just..."
She glanced behind her at a passed out Rui, grimacing. "I need to take him with us, though."
There was no power on this earth that would make her leave him, especially in this state. And if she had to drag him all by herself back to her apartment to do it, then she dang well would.

Le sigh. Yes, he had seen that coming. Oh well. It took but a moment for him to easily climb out of the crater and heft the unconscious Air on to his shoulders. Yes, he was the cool.
"Lead the way, Crazy lady who destroyed my house"

Lily ducked her head a bit, biting her lip and then glanced back up with a shy look. "You probably already have this all covered," she said gently, "But please be careful with him. He's been through a lot lately."
She glanced back down, blushing, only for her eyes to fall on two halves of a hair comb. Her hair comb... was... broken! Her eyes widened, her heart stopped beating for one short moment. And then it kicked back up with a painful lurch, swelling in her chest, causing her breath to catch in her throat. Her... hair... comb.... It was.... It was.... No!
A purely agonized look crossed over her face as she dropped to her knees before it, carfully picking up the two pieces. Staring at them in horror, and in pain. It was a sign. Oh, god. It was a terrible, terrible sign. Why? It was the only gift she had to keep with her from him. And now it was broken?
Her lower lip trembled, and she hastily brushed away any tears that were trying to fall. She tucked the broken hair comb into the pocket of her jacket, and shakily rose. She had to repay this stranger for her inconsideration. She had to take care of Rui. And after that, then she'd mourn this loss. All the losses. Damned signs.
