Jason Lumina hated homework, but unfortunately, it was a necessary evil. Tonight's project: government. Creating your own form of government in the given category. Bo-ring. Deciding that it was easier to do homework after one had actually challenged to brain to think a little, Jay was avidly browsing the non-fiction section, running his index finger gently - lovingly - across the spines in front of him..and trying to ignore the intense and somewhat inappropriate stares of those around him.
It wasn't uncommon for him to be surrounded by people who though his very being was bringing them happiness and love. But it was rather annoying when he was trying for privacy. The sad fact was that he could either deal with things this way, or shut down that power. And to shut down the power that caused those around him to be intrigued by him, to feel drawn to him, to listen to him; to shut down that power was to risk not being able to turn it back on when he really needed it.
And so it was in dealing with the irritation of spectators that Jason turned to the person behind him. The person had the same look as the others..but there was something slightly different. It had been a long day, and he still had homework. So, instead of wasting the energy on the person's truths, he just shook his head, and turned to leave without a word.

Tabitha was often found to peruse many places, all seemingly unconnected to each other. Parks, Libraries, open markets, dance bars. Anything that people were drawn to, all from different walks of life.
She quite favored the library, and today the favor had won her destination for the moment. She found herself practically gliding among the people, ignorant to the person so many were infatuated with. Her fingers danced along shelves, her eyes half-lidded as if in a dream as she browsed amongst the titles. History. She loved to read of history, to read of the falls of empires, the struggles of human nature, and the obstacles they had overcome. Sometimes it would leave her in awe of human strength. Sometimes saddened by the unreasonable prejudices that humans could hold.
She sighed as her eyes lazily traveled away from the books to survey the humans that fascinated her so much. The attention was diverted, and she could see their enthralment... Her eyes followed their gazes to a boy, a handsome boy, nearing her as he headed for the exit. He was like them, but different, and he utterly fascinated her. She was not infatuated by his looks or the light he reflected, or his darkly handsome looks, but it was something he sensed around him.
A strength, a power. So few had such a nature, and in her past life, she'd only met a handful of others who had given off a similar nature.
"Turn your face to the sun and the shadows fall behind you," she found herself mumbling, a soft sound that seemed to fit her image. An old proverb remembered and pulled from the neverending pit of knowledge in her mind. It fit him, she decided, and she was not one to be embarrassed of speaking the truth when it could not harm.
But then she was moving towards him, her intrigue controlling her moves, where her common sense receded into the background. And there she was, standing right before him, blocking his exit as she took his hand without invitation, without permission. It was not a demanding grab, but more of a gentle insistence as she turned his hand so the palm faced upward.
She tilted her head down, her hair cascading down over her face like a curtain as she softly traced his lifeline with a fingernail. It was a talent she held, being able to read someone so easily through the palm of their hand, and his was exceptional. Two life lines, one cut shortly, entwining with the new one. So much like her own, and it showed of great strength, of power, and light. So much light she felt like it would burn her eyes out if she looked to long.
So without dropping his hand, she looked up into his face, first a gentle inquiry and then a spark of realization. And then another old phrase dashed out to the tip of her tongue, flowing out of her before she knew to stop it- not that she cared to- "From within or from behind, a light shines through us upon things, and makes us aware that we are nothing, but the light is all." She smiled at such a cryptic vocalization, and clarified her meaning, "Hello, Light. It's been a long time. I must say, your life line is as blinding now as it was back then."

Jay had the odd sense that someone in the room was aware of his presence more than the normal person. That was to say, there was someone in the room that was not completely infatuated with him. Odd. Not completely unwelcome, but odd. He was about to turn around and search when he heard a voice, drifting silkily through his thoughts.
What was she saying..wait...that little statement rang bells. But he couldn't place it. Before he could think more or even say a word, she took his hand. It was an odd sensation, like a tiny shock wave through his entire body, emanating from the place where she touched his hand. She spoke a second time, dragging him from his thoughts once again.
And that's when he really looked at her. She wasn't spectacular looking, or even giving off that enormous physical...aura that most of them did, but she was like him. Just to be nearer to her, he felt more light of heart, and more alive.
"Hail, Life, still making people feel alive, I see.." he said awkwardly. It wasn't that he didn't like her, it was that the cliche of life and light being together wasn't entirely accurate. Light had never been one to settle down and choose one side. He tried his best to be neutral, and Life was the one that made it hardest to not choose sides. Jay did not like feeling like anything wasn't his decision.
"How did you come to be in my library, or illuminated one?"

Tabitha smiled faintly at his words. It was what she did, she supposed, making people feel more alive. Always in the background, hidden, but watching and learning, she was still there, affecting those around her. She didn't mind it so much, merely accepted her part in life.
"Catching up on history," she said with a small shrug. She had no need for lies, after all. "Traveling."
And neither of those could be a surprise. She'd always been the flighty one. The one who went from place to place, gathering all the knowledge she could, enjoying the different cultures before heading on. She was never in one place long. Though she did have to admit, Vegas she'd stayed the longest in and kept returning. The culture was so varied, so diverse, that she found she had yet to grow tired of it.

"Ah, yes. Forever traveling. That's the Life I remember. I haven't done much traveling myself this lifetime. Too busy watching all the Old Powers gravitate toward Las Vegas. So far, I've picked up bits and pieces about all four elementals, I believe that Dark is probably around somewhere and there's you...I don't doubt that Death will be next. It is interesting that we are all drawn to this place. I feel something in the air. A truth that I fear. Something is coming." he paused, trying to decide what else to give away. Life and Light had not always gotten along, but they had always looked out for each other,"I feel like when the time comes, the world with change forever. I don't know the time though. It could be tomorrow or in twenty years. I think it would take all of us and our knowledge to come together to figure everything out and also to defeat whatever challenge is coming. For this reason, I fear we are doomed."
It took a moment for Jay's eyes to turn back and for him to realize that it had been Light that was giving the prophecy and not him.
"Crap. That didn't sound good at all.." he murmured, more to himself than to Life.

Tabitha was rarely surprised by anything in life anymore, but it was Light who managed to surprise her most often. And it was that little prophecy that had her eyes widening, and for a moment she was speechless.
And while she contemplated over this knew knowledge, she grabbed Light by his hand and dragged him off into a solitary corner of the library where they wouldn't be overheard. And it was in this corner that she gracefully fell back against the wall into a leaning postion, palms flat on the wall, her face down-turned in a thoughtful look.
"Well, I think we have a problem here," she said finally. "We could probably round everyone up... with the exception of Fire. Everyone else would know to work together if things got bad... but we all know how Fire feels about teamwork..."
She was silent for another long moment, before her eyes suddenly darted up to the air over Jay's shoulder. One blue, one brown, but both eyes were still quite startled. "Maybe.... it's the Final Darkness?"

"I don't know, but I don't want to think about it too much right now. Frankly the idea of trying to get everyone to work as a team stresses me out." he said, honest as always. It was a gift and a curse to be able to tell the truth so easily and without reserve.
"So, what now? I feel rather awkward just standing here being stared at by random people while we contemplate the end of the world..."
((sorry for the short post, trying to get my mind to start working again...))

"Well, we could always pull out a little 'Carpe Diem' to lighten up our day," Tabitha said with a soft smile. It was a slightly mysterious one, the original Mona Lisa smile. Of course, she wouldn't be Life, if she gave away all the answers to her cryptic sayings, or if she didn't steal a chance to seize the moment and surprise someone. And heck, this was something she'd been wanting to do since her past life. And so, without further ado, no warning given or thought of passerby, she pushed off the wall, grabbed him by his hair and pulled him down into a kiss. ((Bwahahahaha! ))

In the his surprise, Jay kissed her back, his mind reeling away from him to take a vacation in the Bahamas while he was accosted. Distantly, he felt his hand sliding behind her neck to pull her closer...and got caught in her hair. The mood now ruined, Jay pulled his head back and began trying to extricate his hand from her hair. The intricate ring in his forefinger did not make matters any easier.
"Ugh," he said in an irritated voice, as he continued the mission for detachment, "Is your hair always this...infuriating?" in a last attempt to keep from making any sort of whining noise, Jay tried halfheartedly tugging his hand away.
"And you can't just kiss someone like that, you know. It's just not done. Not to me. Not without-" he was interrupted as one of his adoring on-lookers skittered over to help. Unfortunately, the girl was jumpy and nervous and her twitchy movements did nothing but make it worse.
"Will you desist?" Jay demanded, resisting the urge to stomp his foot, "You're not helping. Life, would you just....scissors. That's what we need, scissors...."
And before he could say anything, the nervous girl was rushing off to find scissors..

Tabitha sighed, resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "Light, you always were such a spoilsport. Aren't you ever spontaneous?"
She really did not want him to pull a pair of scissors on her hair. She liked her hair. And it also didn't help that every time someone cut it, it would only grow back within the day, and more of a death trap than before.
"Why do you have to wear such a guady ring anyway- Ow! Would you stop tugging? It hurts, you know!"
Pursing her lips, she reached up, grabbed his wrist and forced him to keep it still while her other hand deftly started to unwind the strands of hair from the ring. "To condemn spontaneous and delightful occupations because they are useless for self-preservation shows an uncritical prizing of life irrespective of the content.”
And there they were both free of confinement, and she twirled her hair up into a pile on her head, only to tie it into place with one of her leather necklaces. "Are you satisfied now, Mr. Spoilsport?" she said with another smile. She was all for sassing him.

For his part, Jay was still utterly confounded. He didn't know where the kiss had come from, he didn't know why it was still tingling on his lips, and he didn't know why he had the sudden urge to kiss her now. It was odd for him to not know something, especially about himself, but there was one thing that he did know. Light had always followed the truth, and the truth of the matter was that he wanted - almost needed to kiss her. So he did.
Jay was careful not to get his ring caught anywhere this time, as he kissed her mouth, her cheeks, her neck, her collarbone seriatim. He was was of, but did not care about, the people watching this display with mixed feelings - almost all of them good though.
What an odd day.

Tabitha, Life, she fought back a smile. Fought back a victory dance, a comeback, another ancient proverb. But it wasn't much of a fight, more than her mind sweeping away from her from such a kiss. She'd kissed a few men before, and many in the past life, but none had ever sent such a sharp thrill through her veins. Not had caused the breath from her lungs to be knocked out of her, nor had they weakened her knees. Light was a different man altogether. Especially since she had never expected a second kiss, and one so responsive as well.
Startled, weak in the knees, she leaned into the kiss, leaned against him. Returned each kiss with an answering of her own, following a mirrored path of the one he had set. Dear gracious, it even had the normally calm Life pietistic of the man. Not because of his powers to draw people to him like moths to a flame, but that darn kiss.

This time, Jay did not pull away, but forced things further, pushing her back up against the nearest shelves, and pressing himself against her. His entire being felt alive - every molecule dancing within him. His hands bunched in her clothes, fighting the urge to just rip them off. Something about her was setting him on fire, burning him from the inside with such an intense life that he felt like he would die if he were to let her go.
"We.." he started, pulling away gasping, "We should...Go somewhere...else.."

A night without sleep, catching up with her son, and mulling over Rui leaving, had left her with mixed emotions. But by the time Minami has finally fallen asleep, and she'd stayed awake, the sun rising in the sky, she'd found one strong emotion that overpowered everything else. Anger. Pure, red-vision-causing anger.
And it was what had caused her to seek him out. Just follow the adoring fangirls and it was easy. The Library seemed the place to be, and it was a very furious Lily, in mother Earth-mode, that threw open the library door and stalked inside, immediately seeking him out.
"He.... found... out..." she hissed to the male part of the groping couple. God, was he incapable of keeping his hands off of the females? And that only served to make her more angry. Not because he was jealous- she hated him- but because he was obviously having a splendid time and she was getting the brunt of this whole mess. Men. What pigs.
*
Tabitha had been about to suggest moving on to her own home, when a very angry girl came stalking up to them. The air around her seemed to crackle with unseen energy, and for a moment, she swore she could feel the ground vibrating beneath her feet. Interesting. Better stay out of this one.

It took Jay a moment to focus on the angry girl in front of him. For a moment, he thought it was that chick who'd gone to get the scissors, but then..
"He.... found... out..."
Oh shit.
"Now, Terra, let's think about this, no no, calm down.." Jay's hands automatically raised to his chest in a gesture of surrender as he backed away, trying to avoid tables and people without taking his eyes off the angry witch in front of him.
