Fern has not lived as long as she has without picking up a few tricks... Like checking the newspapers for the latest news, unexplained earthquakes, rain, overly hot summer days, plagues, sudden inspirations, evil websites that take souls... Anything indicative of old powers in the neighbourhood to tell truth, she already knows that Chaos is about but she's not sure who else.
So far their (Two lackeys also help: Katie on computer, Aria checking through the magazines) efforts have turned up a lot of interesting information... Especially (to Fern's mind) on the evil website front... It appears that some of her old family have been busy, some less so...
How amusing, she'd just love to catch up with them.

Nethiel had been counting down the minutes (more like hours) before midnight would strike in the living, and he would be able to set to work once again. He was bored. Beyond bored. He had nothing to do tonight until it was midnight. Ugh.
So what did the boy do to keep himself entertained? He started creating portals and jumping through them. It was a faulty game, one that tended to land him in very awkward places. The only time he could control the locations of a portal was at midnight, and then shoot directly to hell. Until then, access to the Underworld was blocked, and he would always wind up in say... Africa. Like his last portal. Amongst a tribe of cannibals. With spears.
He'd had to run for it then, and his next portal had sent him crashing into a bookcase. He glanced around slowly, recognizing that he was actually back in Vegas and smirked. Well, he'd only gotten nicked in the side. He was just.... fine.
And that was when he was momentarily distracted by the group at the table behind him. Why string him up and beat him like a demon pinata, he just had wondrous luck.
"Well, if it isn't my old cousin- relative- whatever you are- Justice!"
Why yes, Nethiel did not care about exposure of the Night World. Screw the librarian freaking out at his talking and banging up books, as well.

Fern looks up in a almost angry way, feels her expression freeze for a split second and then smirks and rises up from her seat, dealing a faintly savage kick to Aria's ankle when she also tries to rise up.
"Hello Hell! It's been so long hasn't it? Uh..." Fern tilts her head and crosses her arm "for reference how many times are you planning to talk about the Nightworld?"
And then she notices his slightly breathless appearance and frowns in a very worried way, tilting her head even further "What the hell happened to you?"

"No clue. It just comes to me at random times," Nethiel says in reference to his Night World speaking.
Upon her other questioning, he runs a hand through his hair, and grabs a chair to slump down in. "Portal. Africa. Cannibals. You don't want to know the details, trust me."

Fern glances at Aria who immediately whitens and hurries off to check on Katie, a originals stare is something that most sane people tend to flee from at alarming speeds.
Turning back to Nethiel she sighs and sits back down in her chair "Cannibals? O-kay..." A glance down at her hands and then back up "Hell... Wait, what are you called these days?"

He shrugs, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his stomach. "Nethiel," he said with a faint smirk. "Luckily, I managed to snag a good name in the second life. Should I still call you Justice? Or do you go by a different name now, even though you obviously haven't been reborn..."
And there was the reason for his smirk. Why yes, he did realize she was a vampire. An Original at that. He had a knack for sensing whether a person was human, demon, or any other creature of darkness. And Nethiel didn't beat around the bush when it came to such things.

Fern pauses for a moment, brushes her hair out of her face and glares at her hands ad then glances up again, hands sliding to hold up her head "How perceptive of you... Justice unfortunately does tend to stand out in these times, I usually call myself Fern."
Well, these days she tends to use that name, to list all her names over the years would take far too many hours.

"Ah, like the plant," Nethiel drawls with a short nod. "Or tree. Whatever it is. I never paid any attention to green things. Fern.... really?"
By this time he's mostly just talking to himself. He can't decide if he likes the name or not. He's contemplating just calling her something else and seeing how long it'll take her before she snaps. No, no, he had it. But shh, he wasn't saying anything, not yet.
"So besides becoming one of the undead, what have you been up to, Princess?"
Okay, okay, he just couldn't help himself. It was only in his nature to be a jerk.

Justice in the olden days would have been trying to kill Hell within moments of anything like that little nickname... But she's mellowed, or at least has learned to control herself rather well... Anyway, her only response is a slight twitch and a mocking smile.
"Like the plant... Oh you've heard enough about me so far, I want to hear about what you've been up to Nethiel" The smile grows slightly more evil, she does so hope that Nethiel remembers the way she dealt with that pack of bandits long ago... Not that she would ever behead him but she sincerely hopes he doesn't realise that "Any ads? Special services? Websites maybe?"
That smile is downright evil.

"Aw, have you been checking up on me?" Nethiel smirks, leaning back even farther into the chair. He's just downright making himself comfortable under interrogation. "That would be sweet if it weren't so stalkerish. What? You can't tell me you're the only one allowed to deal out justice! It's merely a site devoted to taking care of sinners. The killers, the rapists, the evils within living man. I fully warn each person before a contract is signed of what will happen. They want their revenge, I'll take the sinner's soul to Hell. But, that also constitutes as a sin on their part, and once they have lived their life to the fullest, their soul is mine. I've done nothing wrong. I've just merely been helping with your workload, Princess."
Besides, even though he enjoyed his work very much, it was also necessary for him. If he didn't deliver enough souls to replace his own, than he would be trapped there forever. And he wouldn't be able to harass his old family.

"I've been checking up on everybody Nethiel" Fern murmurs, lacing her hands together and studying them absently "seeing what the old offenders have been up to, best to keep abreast of the latest gossip after all."
A pause, Fern keeps studying her hands and then smiles just slightly "it may surprise you but I do actually approve."

"Yeah, well, you better... wait. What?" Okay, Nethiel hadn't been expecting that. He'd been expecting a lecture on taking advantage of the idiocy in the world, er, innocents. "You.... actually approve? Well, finally! Took this long to get you to approve of something I do. About time!"
Of course, in Nethiel's first life, he hadn't been the most pleasant of people. He still had the same personality, but he wasn't going around just grabbing souls for the fun of it, or sending hounds on people, stealing the women of other men. But he was still growing. There was enough time for those actions in the future, but for now he had plans.

Fern has changed a lot over the years, not her body but her mind has growna little more... Unhinged.
Justice is relative after all.
"Well" she mutters softly "it is logical after all, I am powerful but humanity is so... Evil, and so large in number."
Not that she minds humanity being evil, if they all stopped being evil she'd be out of a job.

"You see," Nethiel said with a smirk and an exuberant hand gesture. "I'm helping with your job!" He leans farther back in his chair, all cocky, but still managing to come across as some sort of demented dog. Those years in Hell.... they're not good on the conscience. Not on bit. "Besides, we both know I can't take anyone into Hell who hasn't sinned. I don't know if I can take Old Powers either. I haven't tried yet."
That's when the smirk grows quite evil. He has plans for that. But that's not necessarily something he would share with anyone. 'Cept maybe Fire. Because it did involve her, and she'd probably go for it.
