It was cool. Rui calmly breathed the night desert air as he waited. Surely the Shimmery Bastard would show. He had no real doubt of that. For everything that had gone wrong, they had been best friends once and that still meant something. At least, it did to him.
There: across the dusty dry earth. A small glow, brighter than moonlight. It was not Jay that was appearing this night, it was Lucient. That was fair enough. Lucient should pay for what he did. Rui felt his control over his body melt away as Maelstrom took full control, grey eyes, and stormy grey hair. Prepared for a battle. He floated six inches from the ground, taking in the surroundings, getting ready to fight. What happened was not what he expected.
A glowing figure with spun gold hair and luminous eyes glided to meet him. But the attack that came was different than any he had ever experienced. Overcome with a desire so great, Maelstrom dropped from the air, plucked down, left on his knees before Lucient.
"What..?" was all he could say. He couldn't help the look of adoration that he gave his best friend, the glowing angel before him. He was beautiful.
Lucient smiled a solemn understanding smile at the man before him. The power of the sky brought to its knees before him. He bent forward, relishing the slow movements, and the reactions that they brought out in Maelstrom. Slowly, oh so slowly, he came to his own knees in front of the other man, facing him straight on, and pressed his lips to Maelstroms.
Maelstrom whimpered slightly at the onslaught of emotion. Some part of him knew that something was wrong with this, but as with anything that causes a reaction like this, he couldn't remember what it was. No, he couldn't think of anything but the man kissing him and how wonderful it felt as their arms wrapped around eachother.
Lucient pulled back very minutely, ignoring the other man's restraining hands, leaning his face into Maelstroms neck to brush his lips there, coming close to his ear.
"This is and eighth of what we felt that night. I could not control it and it enveloped me too. I am sorry my brother in power. Forgive me if you can."
And as quickly as the feelings had come, they vanished. Though Rui still felt the remnants of power, he no longer felt the need for blood. Maelstrom had receded deep within him, and now he understood. AS Jay rose from his position on the ground, Rui wilted more into his, unable to look the other man in the face.
One thing was completely clear as Light walked off that battlefield that night: Lily was forgiven.
