It's been a fun night by Cora's standards, the guy that she turned to dust was only teh start... Now by her counts Twenty more people/witches/heck, she thinks one might've been a shapeshifter are dead (Plus a few bugs and maybe a couple of birds) and she is very pleased with herself indeed.
Now with the light of dawn just starting to peep over the horizon they are walking down a alley between two warehouses and Cora is feeling perfectly awake, perhaps if she hadn't caused a death in a while she would be totally exhausted but since Ten humans, Six vampires, Four witches and a shapeshifter (Plus Sixteen insects and Three birds) now lie dead she is almost skipping.
Indeed, it has been a great night "Fun, huh?"

Darren is impressed. If nothing else, he's impressed with her lack of morality; the complete and utter void where her conscience was. He has begun to think of her as a lovely, bewitching weapon. A weapon doesn't think; a weapon just acts. A weapon can hurt the one who uses it, but it's still something to be used. He smiles at her enthusiasm. The smile is particularly dark; particularly cruel. Deep, too. It's a real smile. There's that.
"Well," he temporizes. Then he leans against a warehouse wall and glances, narrow-eyed, up at the sky. "You have talent. I'm not convinced you have skill, but talent -- so, sure, it was fun to watch."
Darren isn't exactly a bundle of praise. He never, ever is.

Cora doesn't exactly need praise, being the goddess of death and only abstaining from walking around as the grim reaper (scythe and all) because she still has some family is enough to know that she's the best in her field.
It is also enough to let her know that you can't bother about morality when you're death, everybody dies, something dies every second and if you spend your life sobbing over it things will never get done, it's best just to skip along happily and enjoy what you've got.
Which is why instead of getting offended she flashes Darren another smile and brushes at her hair "I was going easy."

Darren has grown so still that a human passerby, and even many who weren't human, would not notice him in particular. He has grown so still he could be part of the building; he could be a shadow, cast by an interesting collection of random objects to look vaguely, to the perceptive, like a man. Shhhhhhhhh. It's just your imagination.
He tuts. His gaze moves from the street to I was going easy Cora. "Tell me about yourself. Do you have many friends? A place to stay and keep the cold away?"
"Here." He reaches out to smooth her hair.

Cora smirks at him and does an odd swaying motion with her head a few times... Voila, her hair is all unsmoothed again, just the way that Cora prefers it.
"I have a sister" Well, from her old life "and a daughter" ...Again "who lets me stay with her but I can easily escape."
Easily, she can escape from anything... Nothing can resist the call ofdeath, everything must have it's ending and currently that ending is Cora

"A daughter?"
Darren looked skeptical. Who was he to question? He had children who looked older than he did. Well, he had one child who chose to look older than he did. He had children who looked as old as he looked. Of course, he was a lamia; this girl, whatever her awesome powers, was a witch; just a witch.
"What do they think about your special skills?"
Hey, maybe they had awesome powers too. Wouldn't that be cool? A whole little nest of supercool toys!

"Fern" Cora's mutters in dreamy tones "she's an original, lifetimes ago."
A pause and then she grins "they know, Vita is Vita and Justice is Justice, different but powerful."
You really don't want to make any of the old powers mad, even peaceful Terra and calm Poseidon could rip apart continents if they wanted to and it doesn't bear talking about what Ombra and Ares could do.
Luckily being insane does rather give you the element of surprise.

They are toys! This is just awesome.
Darren is guilty of scanning Cora's surface thoughts. He's deft at it, too. He does it like it's his right. As far as he's concerned, it is.
Which is why he frowns, slightly, a line appearing between his eyebrows, and says, "Who are Terra, Poseidon, Ares and Ombra? More siblings?"

A wicked little smirk appears on Cora's face the moment that Ares is mentioned... And continues on through Ombra.
She's very clear on what exactly she did with Ares (babies don't appear out of nowhere after all), not so clear on Ombra but then again nothing was clear around those two even when they weren't working together, together there might as well have been a shroud of shadows and deathly cold over them... They might have done something and if Cora does know for certain she's keeping that particular thought very deep down.
That doesn't stop her from shooting a vision of one of the events leading to Fern and her siblings creation into her surface thoughts, he shouldn't have been reading them after all.

And the adolescent weapon is now fantasizing about a sexual memory from a past life that should be repressed, but isn't.
To Darren's credit, he doesn't look particularly phased. Not every decade was so nice about human sexuality, after all; there used to be far more people in alleyways, conducting business. Legal business. Business which made them the equivalent of lust-distracted Happy Meals for certain vampires, were you in a hurry, but that's beside the point.
Still, he's surprised Ares doesn't have anime sparkles around him. The thing about memories, sharing them, is you always share more than perhaps you strictly intended.
"Didn't your parents ever teach you it's impolite not to answer a question?" Darren reaches over to ruffle Cora's hair, muss it up, since she likes to look like a wild-child.

Cora knows that, there was one time in the witch hunting years that she was alive when even looking at the opposite sex in public was enough to get out the marriage contracts... People had to be a lot more sneaky then, not herself but she did tend to draw rebellious friends.
Not that she likes to remember much about that life, it's painful.
And as for Ares? If it was even a moment before the whole projected memory thing the sparkles would be there in full force, it tends to be rather hard to impose sparkles when you are involved in that.
"I killed them" Cora answers cheerfully with a slight skip "no teaching!"

"Why'd you do that?" Darren asks, reasonably. He still hasn't moved; he's still as still as still can be. His gaze is is still sidelong; he still watches her, from an angle.

Cora stops, actually halts and then lowers her head for a moment... Almost vulnerable "Didn't mean to, I was born and mother died, I went to grandma and father died trying to see me."
A pause and then Cora snaps up again and spins around her mouth opening in song "Everybody is dead! All because of me!"
Death is not by nature a mourner.

For a moment, Cora was almost human; humanity doesn't appeal very much to Darren, but he recognizes it. When she bursts into song, Darren smirks.
"Do people die often when you don't mean them to?"

Cora grins and brushes her hair back a little, winding her fingers into some of the curls and tugging lightly "used to, now I'm mostly controlled."
Unless she gets really mad, though that's probably true for most old powers.
